Poco posting
What's the deal with this blog? There are no pictures nor any new posts since April. Let's get some stuff on here. Or we can get into scrap-booking...

Yakin' at the Lake
This weekend was another great weekend at the Waldorf. Jackson had a blast at Uncle Bubba's soccer game against Northwoods. He was cheering for LMA as hard as he could go. He would hear Uncle Bubba yell a name and Jackson would start cheering for that person. It was great. Mary got a few funny looks from other spectators since she was still in her school uniform. Both kids got bored after a while and took off in different directions. Mary found some kids from school and Jackson ran around between the parked buses. The expression on Jackson's face was funny when Ding showed up and called for him. Aunt Shannon must have been out of place for him.
Saturday morning, the guys got up and moving. They got the kayaks ready and headed out for the morning . . . but not without a couple of passengers. Kip had Jackson sitting in front of him, which resulted in a battle of who was in charge of rowing. Mary sat on the back of Tripp's facing backwards. I would have gotten sick on that one. :) The guys did get to go out after lunch without passengers. Shannon and I sat under the tree watching the non-storm come in and waiting for our kayakers to return. They finally rounded the island and looked like cartoon characters trying to walk on water. The paddles were going REALLY fast and they were booking it towards the house. I wish I had video of it. The storm didn't do much of anything. We had a little rain and a lot of wind, but it did bring in a pretty big cool down.
In trying to get back to game night, we pulled out Clue after dinner and all sat down to play. Someone in our family is watching too many reality shows, because there was talk of alliances. It turned out that Daddy won -- I think we all felt sorry for him because of the bandages on his head LOL.
Well, we will all be back for a fun-filled weekend in a couple of weeks, so I can't wait to see what mischief we get into then.

Happy Easter
Although this Easter weekend has seemed to fly, it has been a blast!!! Nana and Mrs. Delorme hung out with us yesterday while Tripp, Kip and Daddy removed the old motor from the pontoon boat. Jackson and Mary rode their bikes around the yard. Actually, Mary road Jackson's bike and tied the wagon to it so she could pull him around. After a fun day outside, everyone came in and worked on showers and dinner. Mary insisted that she needed her hair curled for Easter morning, and since we didn't have any curlers with us, we used some of DaDa's OTC's. I have to say that Mary looked a lot like Medusa with the socks hanging off of her head. Shannon took a picture, but for some reason the camera erased it.
Last night after the kids went to bed, the adults worked on Easter eggs and the kids baskets. I gave Tripp a Nerf basketball goal as a joke. When we were in the old trailer, we took out 2 light fixtures in one weekend. We lost the one in the dining room because Tripp and I were playing basketball with a goal that suction-cupped to the sliding glass doors. No light fixtures were taken out this year, but all I can say is that I am glad Kip and I are done having kids, because Tripp may have taken care of that for us with the basketball. :)
This morning, Kip and I were woken up by Jackson showing us his new race car. He actually got Guido, Luigi and Darrell Cartrip from the Easter Bunny. He was so excited. We came downstairs and DaDa cracked a few eggs on his head. After breakfast, we all had to get ready for church. Shannon pointed out after getting dressed, that it was before noon and she was awake. Better yet, she was awake and wearing PANTY HOSE and HIGH HEELS!!!! We made it to church and Jackson sang every hymn that they played. He didn't know the words, but he had the tune right.
After lunch, Jackson watched "The Bee Movie" and Mary took her newest Webkin outside for a bike ride. She got a pink poodle this morning that she named Wendy. She has had picnics with her Webkinz and has taken them all for bike rides. She and I have decided that she needs a backpack for them so that she can carry them easier when she rides.
Unfortunately, Uncle Bubba and Aunt Shannon had to leave. They are headed to Folly Beach (I think) to chaperone Spring Break for a couple of kids from LMA. When they left, Shannon asked up to put in an order for warmer weather (since today is only 64F). I told her the order would arrive on Wednesday.
We've still got 5 more days down here, so we will see what kind of trouble we get into over the course of the week.

Brown outs
Now I seem to recall some great fun eating in the backyard. It was hot as blazes, the lake was full since it was a holiday weekend, and the power decides to go out, just as the barbeque chicken is cooking on the grill. The only thing to do was hook up the fish lamp and eat that chicken on the wooden picnic table (made from recycled HUGO fence parts). We also decided to pass on the pontoon boat ride for the evening in favor of bathing in the lake to get the barbeque sauce off!
Ah, those were good times....

Waldor Hysteria Plantation and Courtyard
Welcome Family and Friends!!
Kip came up with this GREAT idea a couple of weeks ago, to create a website or a blog for all of us (the Boykin/Pratt family) to be able to visit and update after weekends at the lake or fun-filled family vacations. Over the past couple of years, we have been to Washington and have been getting back to the old days of lake life. Mama has always wanted to write a history of the lake and this would be a great place to start. We can all add our own memories of years ago as well as memories made each time we go to the lake. I personally want Mary, Jackson and even Kip to know about like in the old trailer. It may have been small, but it was some of the best times I can remember at the lake. I hope it will also inspire us to return to the "good old days" of Saturday night pontoon boat rides, late night UNO matches, Trivial Pursuit questions that none of us can answer except for Mama (you bet your sweet bippie) and barbecue chicken on the front deck (instead of the back yard). Life at the Waldorf has always served to humor us and to bring us closer. I hope all of you will enjoy writing on this blog and reliving memories with us.
